International Student

If you have education, including business or accounting credits, from other countries, CGA will assess your courses to determine your transfer credits towards the CGA program though the Application for Advanced Standing. This education may be in the form of certificates, diplomas, or degrees from foreign institutions.

If your international education does not meet our CGA degree requirement, you will be required to meet CGA`s degree requirement prior to receiving your CGA designation.

Click here to download the International Application for Advanced Standing.

Keep in mind that although students on visas can begin the CGA program, all CGA students must be qualified to work in Canada in order to meet the program`s practical experience requirement. To earn certification as a CGA in Canada, members must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.

A minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of “8” in each of the four language skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing - is suggested for admission to the CGA Program of Professional Studies.

If you need to have a Canadian Language Benchmark assessment, please click here.

If your English Language Benchmark is below the minimum CLB score, obtain information on additional English language training programs by contacting:

Winnipeg English Language Assessment and Referral Centre ( WELARC)

International students in the CGA program may be able to return to their home countries to complete the certification requirements.
